BYD in Ireland: importing the Seal, Sealion and Dolphin from the UK
Last reviewed 11 August 2026. Listing counts and prices are live figures from our own catalogue of UK cars and change daily.
BYD is the biggest of the new Chinese arrivals and the one with the deepest UK used market - which makes it the strongest import case of the three. We currently list around 700 BYD at UK garages, more than most Irish dealer groups hold across all brands.
The range and landed prices today. Seal U hybrid SUV from about €36,300 (nearly 300 listed); Sealion 7 electric coupe-SUV from €42,400; the Seal saloon from €38,900; Seal 6 from €32,500; Sealion 5 from €33,700; and the Dolphin hatch from €21,600. Every price is fully landed - VRT, VAT, customs, transport and Irish registration included.
Why BYD imports stack up. Over 110 of the BYD we list currently carry a Bestseller badge, meaning they sit at least €2,500 under comparable Irish asking prices measured against live Irish ads - the widest current gap is over €9,000. Electric models qualify for EV VRT relief where OMSP conditions are met, already built into the landed figure.
Warranty. UK-supplied BYD carry a six-year manufacturer warranty with an eight-year battery warranty. How much of a UK manufacturer warranty transfers to Ireland varies by brand and is worth confirming before you buy - contact BYD UK or BYD Ireland to confirm the position for a specific car. Alternatively, our optional extended warranty cover is available on eligible cars.
