Polestar in Ireland: the UK import guide to the 2, 3 and 4

Polestar has an official operation in Ireland, so unlike the Chinese brands this is not a car you can only get by importing. What Ireland does not have is used stock. Early UK leases on the Polestar 2 have been ending in their thousands, the UK market took the brand years before Ireland did, and the result is a used supply there that is roughly ten times ours. That is why importing is the way to buy one at a sensible price, and why the choice is hundreds of cars rather than the handful on Irish forecourts.
What we can source right now. We currently list around 1,080 Polestar at UK garages: about 750 Polestar 2s, 225 Polestar 4s and 105 Polestar 3s, every one of them electric, from 2020 to 2026, with fully landed prices from about €17,700 and an average around €43,000. That figure includes VRT, VAT, customs, transport and Irish registration - it is the price to have the car here on Irish plates in your name. We benchmark our stock against real Irish asking prices every week: today 80 of these Polestar are priced at least €750 under a comparable Irish ad, 51 of them by €2,500 or more, and the biggest gap is €11,209 on a 2023 Polestar 2 Long Range.
VRT on an electric car - the part that is different this year. Revenue charges VRT on a battery-electric car at 7% of its Irish open market value, and then gives relief of up to €5,000 on cars valued at €40,000 or less, a reduced relief between €40,000 and €50,000, and nothing above that. On any Polestar valued under €40,000 the 7% works out at less than the relief, so the VRT is €0 - which is most Polestar 2s. On a €60,000 Polestar 3 the full 7%, about €4,200, applies. The relief runs for cars registered before 31 December 2026, so a car landed this year gets it and one landed next year may not. Whatever applies is already inside the price you see on our site; nothing is added at the port.
Which Polestar 2 to buy - the 2024 line. Polestar changed the 2 substantially for the 2024 model year. Earlier single-motor cars are front-wheel drive with a 64 kWh standard or 78 kWh long-range battery; from 2024 the single motor moved to the rear wheels, the batteries grew to 69 kWh and 82 kWh, rapid charging got faster and the official range went up. Both generations are in our stock. The 2022 and 2023 long-range cars are where the biggest euro savings against Ireland sit; the 2024-on cars cost more and drive better. Standard Range or Long Range, single or dual motor, and the Pilot and Plus packs are the choices, and the full specification is on every car page. The 3 and the 4 are newer, dearer and far fewer in Ireland, which is exactly where a deep UK market helps most.
Warranty - the good news. Polestar's UK warranty booklet says, in its own words, that "any Polestar Authorised Service Point can carry out repairs under the Polestar warranty", and describes the cover as international rather than tied to one market. Headline cover is three years or 60,000 miles from first registration, the high-voltage battery is covered for eight years or 100,000 miles and is repaired or replaced if its health drops below 70%, the corrosion warranty runs twelve years and is expressly issued on an international basis, and all of it transfers automatically with a change of owner. Servicing is every 24 months or 18,750 miles and can be done at any Authorised Service Point, of which Ireland has its own. Two honest caveats from the same booklet: some connected and over-the-air features can be limited after a car changes market, and Polestar takes no responsibility for the destination country's regulations - which is our job, not yours. How the import works. You choose the car and pay the deposit. We handle the purchase, an independent mechanical inspection, transport, customs, VRT and registration - typically about two weeks from deposit to handover on Irish plates, collected in Dublin or delivered to your door.
